2x04 Afterlife

Dean and Sam assist Neil Levine, a heartbroken college kid who consoles his long-time crush after her breakup and then loses her in a car accident. Determined to have his feelings returned, Neil uses necromancy to bring her back from the dead. His efforts backfire when she returns as an angry and vengeful spirit, forcing the brothers to stop her before she kills her boyfriend and the girl he cheated on her with.

Greenville, Illinois—Present Day

It’s a weeknight at a local, half-empty college hangout and we see ANGELA, whose a pretty but sad seemingly lonely twenty-one year old sitting solo in a corner booth. A slightly geeky, yet sweet guy, the same age as her named Neil slides in across from her and grabs a beer off the table.

Neil comments on the booze and then reaches into his jacket pocket, taking out a bag of M&Ms, adding chocolate to the mix then telling Angela to wait for it….the waiting is for a lame love song that kicks on in the Juke Box eliciting a grin from Neil.

Neil dubs the song as emo rock, the cure for any broken heart, and Angela tells him he didn’t have to do any of this and that she’s fine although we can see that she is fighting back tears as she averts her gaze away.

Being the friend, Neil calls her on it, and Angela tells him that she just feels stupid and should’ve seen it all coming. Neil consoles her and tells her that they’d all said the guy was an ass a couple thousands times so really it’s not like anyone’s really surprised.

Angela laughs weakly at his statement then thanks him, reaching across the table and taking Neil’s hand. Neil’s eyes reveal that he’s repressing some form of emotion as she takes his hand in hers and when Angela tells him that he’s a good friend—all Neil can do is nod and swallow hard.

Just when Neil’s about to shrug off the thanks, Angela pulls her hand back and her smile vanishes. We see that a 20—something, tall, good looking, and athletic guy has entered the bar and is pretty anxious which is obvious by the way he’s scanning the bar.

Angela says she can’t see him, and we discover that him is Matt Harrison, her boyfriend. Neil gets up to take care of the situation, and Angela tries to stop him, but it’s too late because Neil’s halfway to Matt at the precise moment Matt catches sight of Angela.

Neil steps in between the two of them, effectively blocking Matt’s path and advices Matt to pick another bar. Matt says he’s going to talk to his girlfriend, but Neil plays mediator and say that she doesn’t want to talk to him. Matt provokes the situation asking Neil why Angela can’t tell him that herself.

Matt tries to step around Neil, but Neil manages to block his path. Problem is that Matt’s a huge guy, much bigger than Neil and just towers above him. Matt quietly threatens to kick Neil’s ass and Neil gives him the go ahead because he’s not going to move.

It doesn’t take much for Matt to push Neil aside, but by the time he does we see that Angela has vanished and hear the back door to the hang out slam shut.


Parking Lot---minutes later

So we got Angela fleeing the scene. It’s all dark out, and we’re like waiting from some baddie to get her, but nothing does. Instead she gets her keys and heads off in her car. However, now her whole brave front is in shards and she’s crying and her vision is blurring as she drives down the dark and winding road.

Her cell rings and she takes her eyes off the road, she picks it up and see off the ID that is Matt. Angela snaps at him and wants to know why he can’t just leave her alone…all we can hear is Matt pleading with her and apologizing. It’s not working in his favor as Angela just appears to be getting more and more upset and therefore not paying attention to the road.

They argue some more and suddenly Angela looks back at the road and then screams. She’s missed a turn and now her car slams through the railing and crashing into a rock wall. Glass shatters and the body of the car folds into itself due the collision.

So then we get a pan out of the wreckage, all the while hearing Matt’s frantic voice call out for Angela. We finally get a glimpse of her only to discover that the chica is bloody and her neck is twisted sharply at a wrong angle. Her eyes are wide, and deadly empty.


Somewhere on campus:

Dean and Sam are looking over some of Angela’s things and discussion what exactly is going on. Dean states that he doesn’t think the dad caused anything of this, but that leaves only Neil. Sam asks how he knows and Dean opens a pink diary, Angela’s.

Dean reads a page from the diary, but it is sincere and not mocking in the slightest. He states that he has a journal and to each his own. He reads a line about Neil being Angela’s shoulder to cry on and then slams the book shut. Dean points out that there is a lot of that mushy stuff all in it, and Sam in turn says that it doesn’t mean that Neil brought her back from the dead.

Dean reveals that Neil’s a Mason T.A. and Sam’s like…gotcha.


INT. Neil’s house—basement—same day

Angela’s sitting perfectly still, her eyes are unblinking and empty. She asks if something’s bothering whoever is yet to be revealed. The camera widens and we see that it is Neil pacing nervously.

He says it’s about Matt, and Angela smiles patiently stating they’ve already talked about it. Neil goes to protest but Angela says they’ve wasted enough time already on Matt. Her face gets darker as she refers to her boyfriend and you can tell she’s angry.

She points out that Neil always said that Matt never deserved her, and that he was right to say so. Neil asks her cautiously if she’s done anything…and Angela asks him what he means by it.

Neil presses on, asking if she got out to see Matt or something, his line hanging unfinished. Angela looks hurt and tells him she’s been down in the basement the whole time. She asks if Neil really thinks she’d do something like that and Neil says he doesn’t know because she just seems different.

Angela agrees with him saying he’s right. She is and slides up closer to him. She wraps her arms around Neil, resting her head on his chest. She tells Neil that she knows this is what he’s always wanted and Neil searches her face realizing that he now has the girl of his dreams for himself.

He apologizes for bringing it up, then says he has to go to work. Angela tells him to wait and then pleads with him not to lock her in again. Neil says he has to, and that they can’t take any chances. He apologizes again, before exiting the basement and bolting the door behind him.


Neil, Cont. *days later, perhaps….

Sam and Dean are discussing where exactly Angela is headed next. It seems that she’s reeking havoc, although she’s dead. Dean suggests that they go and have a convo with her best friend, Neil.

So, Sam and Dean drive their way over to meet Neil, all the while discussing various methods of fixing the problems. Sam suggests tons of different ways to do this as does Sam, some of which include nailing the Undead in their coffin and setting them on fire, or cutting out their brains. Sam whips out Dad’s journal and reads an excerpt on Revenante ending with “the dead should stay buried”. So then concludes that maybe the way the whole ritual or whatever they used for Angela wasn’t finished and that maybe the only way to kill it is to but her back in the grave.


Mason’s Office---Afternoon

Sam and Dean walk in and Neil looks very surprised and nervous when he sees them. Neil asks why they are there and Dean says he thought the kid might want some grief counseling, apparently that’s the cover they are using. Neil reminds them that he isn’t interested but Dean cuts him off saying that he’s known some desperate people looking to get laid, but Neil takes the cake.

Neil demands to know who they really are and Dean retaliates by telling him that he may want to ask Angela that question. Neil plays dumb, but Sam reveals that he and Dean know Neil preformed a ritual to bring her back and informs/warns Neil that what he brought back definitely isn’t the Angela he knew.

Backing away in anger and embarrassment for being caught, Neil tells the boys to get out, but Dean’s lost his patience and tells Neil that because he couldn’t let the dead stay that way, an innocent has died.

Neil’s stunned and asks Dean what he’s talking about. Dean continues telling him that Matt is dead, and Lindsey, a friend, is dead as well. The odd are in favor of it being Neil that’s next. Neil says that’s not true because the boys don’t know Angela and she wouldn’t hurt anyone.

This only makes Dean angrier and he lunges for Neil and grabs him forcefully telling Neil that when people die they’re gone and aren’t supposed to come back and demands to know where Angela is.

There’s a beat of tense silence then Neil seems to break, quietly informing Dean that he hasn’t seen her since the morning and Angela is at his house. He can give them the key.

Dean releases his hold, but when he does, something in the corner catches his eye. A bunch a plants in the corner wall are all withered and dead. Dean turns back to Neil and asks if Neil is sure he hasn’t seen Angela since the morning.

Neil nods, but looks away nervously, toward the back storage room. Dean follows Neil’s line of sight, leading to a crack in the closet door, and then we get the impression Dean seems something.

Dean informs Sam that they are going to the cemetery because there’s only one way to stop this thing, and then pauses to continue but it’s clear he’s winging it. Sam looks at him like he’s crazy but Dean rambles on and Neil’s eyes dart to the closet once again before falling back on Dean’s.

Dean tells him to come with them, but Neil says no, and then Dean tells him in a whisper to get away from Angela and stay away. Neil agrees and then Dean backs away from the counter. Sam’s still lost but decides to follow Dean’s lead.

They exit and we see Neil open the closet door the rest of the way, revealing Angela in the shadows, her arms wrapped around her chest. She asks if they’re gone and Neil says yes, but asks why she didn’t stay in the house like she said she would.

Angela apologizes for lying to him, and then steps closer to Neil, only to have the man back away. She pleads for him to help her, and Neil’s eyes go wide with horror as he sees the bullet wound in Angela’s chest, a mess of rotting skin surrounding it.

Neil’s terror-stricken, and Angela tells him they have to hurry and stop Sam and Dean before they kill her. Neil realizes the truth and confronts Angela with it, who then declares she had to kill Matt and Lindsey because they betrayed her and deserved what they got. She tells Neil that if he really loves her, then he’ll make sure no one can hurt her.

Neil tells her he’ll get the car.


EXT. Greenville College---moments later….

We hear tires screech as Neil speeds out the parking lot trying to make his getaway. A few moments later, he veers off onto an isolated road and exhales thinking he’s made it. A glance in the rearview says otherwise and Angela slowly rises from the back seat.

She asks where he’s going, and Neil slams on the brakes, skidding the car to a halting stop. Before he can scream, Angela’s dead hands are around his throat…..there’s a nasty resounding crack as she breaks his neck.

--> Neil's situation strikes a chord with Sam and his still-strong grief for Jessica. A confused Sam goes along with Dean's plan to trap the undead Angela, but it has horrible consequences.
--> The brothers share a laugh over their somewhat unique lives. While laying his trap for Angela, Dean flatly orders the lovesick Neil to leave with him to save his life. When Neil refuses, Dean and Sam leave while still persisting, advising him to stay calm and leave when he can. Neil eventually tries to heed Dean's warning, but finds escape impossible.

Je suis rentrée

J’ai opté pour un résumé plus que pour une traduction de tout le texte, cela pour 3 raisons :
-1) des difficultés de traduction pour certaine partie du texte et qu’un dico de poche.
-2) manque de temps .
-3) le résumé en anglais est surtout sur le début de l’épisode et n’apporte pas grand-chose de plus à la compréhension.

J’espère que vous ne m’en voudrez pas pour ce moment de flemmingite aigue.

Dans le bars d’un campus universitaire de Greenville, Illinois. Angela, jeune femme d’une vingtaine d’année, est seule jusqu’à ce que l’un de ses amis, Neil, vienne la rejoindre. Angela semble triste et Neil tente de la réconforter. Lorsque débarque un jeune homme à la carrure athlétique, Matt. Il veut à tout prix parler à Angela qui est sa petite amie, mais elle refuse de lui adresser la parole. Neil tente alors de s’interposer, mais Matt le menace. Lorsque Neil s’écarte enfin, Angela a disparu.

Alors qu’elle est en voiture, Matt l’appelle, s’ensuit une dispute et la jeune femme rate un tournant, sa voiture s’écrase dans un mur, entraînant la mort de la conductrice.

Sam et Dean fouillent dans les affaires Angela et discutent de savoir ce qui a bien pu causer la mort, et Dean suggère Neil, en montrant le journal intime d’Angela. D’après ce qu’elle a écrit, Neil tenait beaucoup à elle. Il pense que c’est Neil qui a ramené Angela de la mort.

Dans la cave de Neil, Angela parle avec le jeune homme. Il veut savoir si elle est allée voir son ancien petit ami. Angela ne veut pas en parler, elle a assez perdu de temps avec Matt et semble en colère de la tournure de la discussion.

Neil veut s’assurer qu’elle n’a pas quitté la cave et elle lui répond que non. Il la trouve différente mais Angela met fin à tout ça en posant sa tête sur la poitrine de Neil. Celui-ci est content d’avoir enfin ce qu’il a toujours voulu, mais doit partir pour travailler. Il enferme Angela dans la cave.

Les deux frères se demandent comme ‘tuer’ Angela. Sam conclut, à la lecture du journal de leur père, qu’ils n’ont pas fini le rituel qui met fin à la deuxième vie d’Angela.

Dean et Sam vont voir Neil, qui semble mal à l’aise en leur présence. Il leur demande qui ils sont réellement. Sam lui apprend qu’ils savent qu’il a ramené Angela de la mort, et qu’elle ne peut pas rester là. Neil leur demande de le laisser tranquille, mais Dean perd patience et lui dit qu’il y a déjà des innocents qui ont été tués. Neil lui demande de quoi il parle, et Dean lui apprend que Matt et Lindsay, une amie, sont morts.

Neil jure que ce n’est pas Angela, qu’elle n’a jamais fait de mal à personne. Dean lui dit que les morts doivent rester mort et qu’il veut savoir où est Angela. Neil avoue qu’elle est dans sa cave et qu’il peut leur donner la clé.

Dean aperçoit quelque chose au moment où il relâche son étreinte de Neil et lui demande si Angela est bien restée dans la cave. Neil lui certifie que oui. Dean propose à Sam de retourner au cimetière. Sam ne comprend pas l’attitude de son frère mais accepte. Dean murmure à Neil de ne pas approcher d’Angela.

Au moment où Neil est seul, Angela sort de l’ombre et Neil lui demande pourquoi elle n’est pas restée dans la cave. Elle lui répond qu’elle voulait le protéger, et Neil voit alors des blessures par balle au niveau de la poitrine de la jeune femme. Angela lui demande d’arrêter les frères Winchester avant qu’ils ne la tuent. Neil comprend qu’elle a tué Matt et Lindsay, et Angela lui explique qu’elle le devait car ils l’ont trahie, puis elle ajoute que si il l’aime vraiment, il fera tout pour arrêter Sam et Dean. Il accepte.

Neil tourne sur une petite route déserte et Angela, assise à l’arrière de la voiture lui demande ce qu’il fait, mais avant qu’il n’ait le temps de crier, elle lui brise le cou.



Avis à la population : la traduction des résumés me prend pas mal de temps, je suis donc à la recherche de quelqu’un qui accepterait de m’aider à faire ce travail, partage des textes longs, alternances pour les plus courts. Toute personne intéressée peut m’envoyer un MP, merci d’avance.

Merci, elle a l'air mignonne et brune ^^

L'episode ne s'appelle plus "After life" mais "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", plus facile à dire et ça prend moins de temps à écrire... belle invention que le copier/coller , puis bon, c'est plus parlant comme titre (si vous avez des enfants, ils ne doivent pas jouer à déterrer les morts... pourtant dans la famille Adams, c'est leur jeu préféré ).


Dean et Sam enquête sur le meurtre d'une étudiante (Summer Glau) qui revient de la mort pour se venger de ceux qui l'ont maltraitée lorsqu'elle était en vie. Durant une confrontation, le fantôme attaquera sauvagement Sam, en le blessant. Alors qu'ils sont de passage en ville, les 2 frères se rendent sur la tombe de leur mère et y déposser quelque chose de leur père (Edit : après avoir demandé sur un forum anglais, ma traduction est bonne... trop forte moi , ok, je ).

Dean continue à être violent, mais cette fois Sam lui dit ce qu’il pense et entre autre qu’il a peur de perdre son frère. Il faut dire que Dean se retrouve obligé, par Sam, d’aller sur la tombe de leur mère et là ils doivent faire face à un zombie. Comme il le répète plusieurs fois au cours de l’épisode : "ce qui est mort doit rester mort". Et à la fin, il explique à Sam qu’il était mort et que leur père a fait quelque chose pour qu’il ressuscite.

L’épisode en soit n’est pas mal et le parallèle entre Dean et ce qui se passe est bien fait. Il se confit enfin à Sam qui ne sait pas quoi dire, tout simple car il n’y a rien à dire. Sam le sait très bien, il est lui-même passé par là. Les deux frères se doutent que leur père a passé un deal ave le Démon (miraculeuse guérison de Dean, mort de John et disparition du Colt).

C’est au cours de cet épisode que Jared c’est explosé une main, et on le voit très bien se tordre de douleur lors d’une scène finale

Par contre "Afterlife" était un bien meilleur titre, car là, je ne vois toujours pas le rapprochement entre le titre et l’épisode.

Et on apprend que Mary n’est pas enterré à Lawrence, et qu’elle avait un oncle (à moins que ce soit un oncle pour Sam et Dean… Là j’avoue que j’ai pas tout compris) que les deux frères n’ont jamais vu. Mary est née en 1954, et moi pour une fic je l’ai fait naître en 1952… j’y étais presque

Oui Il a un plâtre dans les épisodes qui suivent. Il a expliqué que c'était au cours d'une cascade, qu'il s'était fracturé le poignet (je sais pas si le lien de la vidéo marche toujours ou pas).

Bon je lis pas ce que vous avez écrit, j'ai tjs pas vu, ni le 2x03 d'ailleurs, ca commence à me gonfler...

Ayé j'ai vu.
L'histoire moyennement originale mais la tensin entre Dean et Sam est bien là...la dernière scène, wouah j'ai adoré. Le Dean sensible est tellement chou, on a envie de le prendre dans nos bras pour le consoler. J'adore quand Jensen à dans un même épisode des scènes où il joue le dur avec Sam et garde la "happy face" pour faire bonne figure, puis quand il fini par craquer. Il fait les 2 vraiment bien, et je suis fan lol

Super episode ! La tension qui persiste entre Sam et Dean est incroyable ! On sent que Sam veut aider son Frere mais qu'il ne sait pas comment faire mise appart peut etre se faire taper dessus (LOL) puis a la fin on voit que finalement Dean ne va vraiment pas bien et qu'il n'arrive plus a le cacher a son frere et lui dit tout c'est wouah super emouvant Dean se revele sensible coupable etc c'est a couper le souffle .. Sam est impuissant face a la souffrance de son frere

Vu hier soir! Bon comme vous j'ai adoré l'affrontement Sam et Dean, Dean qui s'obstine à jouer au dur alors que Sam voit très bien qu'il ne va pas bien... et finalement la fin hyper émouvante ou il craque et ou Sam ne peut evidemment rien dire pour le réconforter! C'était hyper triste, rien que de le voir comme ça j'avais envie de pleurer aussi... j'espère vraiment qu'il va aller mieux dans les prochains épisodes parce que ça fait de la peine de le voir culpabiliser comme ça! Pi l'expression ' What's Dead Should Stay Dead' qui revient sans cesse, on comprend forcément ce à quoi Dean fait allusion...

Sinon la trame consacrée à la morte vivante en elle même... bof! J'sais pas, j'ai trouvé ça cousu de fil blanc, on pouvait deviner ce qui allait arriver du début à la fin en gros! En plus, ça m'a beaucoup fait repenser à l'histoire du pilote, bon c'est développé différemment mais allez, elles sont toutes les deux en blanc, elles se "venge" toutes les deux plus ou moins d'un amant infidèle... d'accord! Mais bon, je me plains pas, c'était sympa quand même comme épisode, j'ai vraiment bien aimé! Beaucoup plus que le précédent par exemple!

Sinon j'ignorais que c'était dans cet épisode que Jared s'était fracturé le poignet, le pauvre... c'est dans la scène ou Angela lui court après à la fin?? Le pauvre...

Ah une séquence que j'ai A-DO-RE!!! Quand à la fin Dean après avoir fait tombé Angela dans sa tombe arrive en courant, fait une glissade de la mort et la "retue" J'ai trouvé la glissade excellente, ah il est trop doué Jensen pour avoir un style pareil!! Oui oui >

Sinon j'ai aussi trouvé l'effet des plantes qui meurent à l'arrivée de la fille vachement bien fait, c'était stylé dans le genre!

Par contre la colloc qui pleure trop mal la mort de sa copine, ça m'a trop fait rire... "she was soooo.... (attends je vais trouver le mot, euh... euh...) great" Trop nulle la fille...

Donc voilà pour les impressions à chaud!

EDIT: pour le titre n'importe quoi... ils sont ou les children dans l'histoire?? J'm'attendais trop à voir des gamins jouer dans un cimetière moi... Afterlife c'était beaucoup plus 'parlant'...

Dean se lâche et avoue la vérité à sam sur lui et culpabilise de la mort de John, il était temps ! Je pense qu'il va avoir l'esprit libéré et qu'il sera mieux
L'histoire est quelconque, surement un épisode pour dévoiler le secret !

je me demande si le titre ne serait pas un clin d'oeil d'Eric Kripke à un film sorti en 1972 et qui justement s'appelle Children play with dead things. Je préfère ce titre-là qui implique que qqch de négatif va ressortir de tt ça. on peut également considéré que c'est un indice nous laissant penser que ce n'est pas le père d'Angela, mais quelqu'un de + jeune qui a fait une chose pareil. Je trouvais que le titre Afterlife, avait une connotation + spirituelle, genre quand tu meurs et que tu arrives dans un autre monde ou un autre corps pour ceux qui croient à la réincarnation et non pas un retour d'entre les morts.

Tt comme Arc-en-Ciel j'adore la glissade de Dean, même si j'ai été un peu déçue à la fin qd il la tue, je me suis dit "j'chuis sûre qu'elle est pas morte, elle va rouvrir les yeux" et là grosse déception "ah bah non, m***e, elle est morte".

Dean et Sam enquêtent sur un meurtre commis par Angela Mason, une étudiante revenue d'entre les morts pour se venger de ceux qui l'ont maltraitée de son vivant. Mais une fois retrouvé, le fantôme s'attaque également aux frères Winchester...

Je dirais bon épisodes judicieux, il a permis de faire réagir notre Dean national !

Ah cet épisode niveau émotion encore je le trouve parfait ! Mais ils n'arrêtent pas de nous faire pleurer ma parole!!
